Dr. Bob Macllveen Dental Project Donations
Robert MacIlveen, DMD (“Doctor Bob” to patients and friends) became a member of the Rotary Club of East Portland in 1994. Not surprising, as Rotary International’s slogan “Service Above Self” described him perfectly. Quite simply, Dr. Bob was a man who cared deeply about others. As a result, he volunteered for (and in many cases organized and led) a number of international projects to provide dental services and equipment to those in need.
At the same time, Dr. Bob became aware that there are children in Portland suffering from the same lack of dental care as those he’d helped in the remote villages of Central America and in third world countries around the world. It’s no surprise then that he moved to action to create the East Portland Rotary Dental Project to provide dental materials and services to homeless children and low-income students in local schools. Thousands have benefited as a result.
East Portland Rotary is committed to continuing the good work that Dr. Bob started, and with funding from donations to The Foundation of the Rotary Club of East Portland for this purpose we will not only help many many children, but will honor the memory of Dr. Bob and his example of “Service Above Self”.
